A beginners guide to retrofit – Tuesday 8 September
The first webinar in our series was a beginners guide to home retrofit – the importance of tackling home energy efficiency in the climate emergency.
In this webinar, we gave an introduction to home retrofit and its importance within the context of the climate emergency. This included defining what retrofit is, why it’s important within the context of our UK housing stock, example of common energy efficiency issues and retrofit measures which could address them. We also covered information on the upcoming Green Homes Grant.
An introduction to Cosy Homes Oxfordshire: a one-stop shop for improving energy efficiency in the home
Our second webinar was an introduction to Cosy Homes Oxfordshire, as well as covering information on the upcoming Green Homes Grant in the UK. The webinar was hosted by Cathy Ryan (Community Engagement Manager at the Low Carbon Hub) and our expert speaker was Geordie Stewart (Scheme Manager for Cosy Homes Oxfordshire).
A guide to using air and ground source heat pumps to heat your home
In this webinar we explored air source heat pumps and ground source heat pumps as a low carbon option for heating your home. This included how heat pumps work, why they’re a good option to improve energy efficiency, what installation looks like, what types of homes they work for, and more. The webinar was led by Natasha Ginks, one of our expert Retrofit Coordinators at Cosy Homes Oxfordshire. We also heard first-hand from a homeowner who has had their oil-fired boiler recently replaced by an air source heat pump, giving an idea of what the process is like for the homeowner.
A guide to insulating your home – cavity wall, floor, and loft insulation
In this webinar we took a closer look at a really common and impactful home retrofit measure: insulation. This includes cavity wall insulation, floor insulation, and loft insulation.
The webinar was led by Paola Sassi, professional architect and one of our expert Retrofit Coordinators at Cosy Homes Oxfordshire. We also heard first-hand from a homeowner who has had their insulation improved, to get a better idea of what the process is like for the homeowner.
