Making Cosy Homes: how our Whole House Plan service works

There are several key steps towards the making of a Cosy Home. These steps form an integral part of the home retrofit service we offer here at Cosy Homes Oxfordshire.

From considering smaller measures such as upgrading your heating system to whole house eco-retrofits, our home retrofit service can help you live in a cosier, healthier and more energy-efficient home. Retrofitting your home can enhance it in multiple ways. For Tina and Richard in Headington, for instance, home retrofit helped tackle damp and mould and keep their house a constant temperature, whilst also reducing their energy bills.

Taking on any refurbishment or renovation works, however big or small, can seem daunting. But it doesn’t have to be that way. At Cosy Homes Oxfordshire we’ve devised a Whole House Plan service to take the stress out of planning your home retrofit and improving your home comfort.

What is home retrofit?

Home retrofit is a refurbishment that facilitates home energy efficiency. This is done by decreasing energy demand of your home through the introduction of new energy-efficient measures or the upgrade of existing systems.

It doesn’t always have to be on a whole house scale, home retrofits can also include smaller measures, for instance, the insulation of walls, upgrading of windows and installing renewable heating and electricity generating systems.

Home retrofit improvements can address issues of damp, mould, poor ventilation, cold walls and roofs- all in all improving the quality of our homes, and lowering energy bills and environmental impact.

The Whole House Plan- home assessment and energy audit

The Whole House Plan is your very own tailored home energy audit and retrofit recommendations report. Using your Whole House Plan, our trusted team will guide you through the process of retrofitting your home that is quality assured and cost-effective, offering maximum impact with minimal disruption. Ensuring that any work is done at the right time for you and your home.

The first step in the process is to register your home with us either online or over the phone. We will send out an energy assessor to visit and assess your property. This will enable us to accurately identify the appropriate measures you can implement, big or small, and compile a report that will form the core of your Whole House Plan.

Giving you an overview of your home’s current energy requirements; your Whole House Plan will additionally provide you with a detailed steer on a range of improvement options and renovations you can make, their indicative costs, the order in which they need to be done and the impact these will have on the comfort, energy efficiency and environmental impact of your home.

Having the Whole House Plan done does not oblige you to proceed with any work immediately. Nor does it mean that all the steps need to be carried out in a single phase, as most Whole House Plans will provide two or three phases of retrofit work – each of which can build on the previous one. Therefore, your Whole House Plan becomes a key reference document for your home to refer to whenever the opportunity for a retrofit arises.
